Candy AI Review
Independently tested, rank #10
- Best tested image quality
- Strong video and in-chat video
- Excellent character consistency
Candy AI Overview
Launched in 2023, Candy AI is the biggest name in the category and the one most people try first. In testing it earns most of that reputation on the visual side. Image generation is the best we have seen, video is strong, live calls work, and the character holds its persona under direct pressure better than almost anything else we have tried. The company is also pushing into AI shorts, weekly episodic dramas that include licensed AI likenesses of adult performers.
The gaps are on the companion side. There are no preset scenarios to browse, although you can write one in the character builder. Chat repeats itself. You cannot adjust her behaviour once a conversation has started. Memory only exists if you pay, only starts after about 20 messages, and expects you to maintain it by hand. The free tier is 20 messages for your entire life on the account.

What is Candy AI?
Candy AI is an AI companion platform covering realistic and anime characters, image generation, video generation, in-chat video, and live voice calls, with NSFW open after age confirmation. There is no native app on either store. Group chat exists, and you write the story for it yourself.

The site is fast, sign-up is short, and the main tools are clearly separated in the left rail. The library filters focus on ethnicity, age, hair colour, and body type.
That is the structural weakness. There are no preset scenarios to browse. You can write a custom scenario while creating a character, but the library itself is organised around appearance.
Pros & Cons
Pros
- The best image generation in our testing, realistic and consistently clean
- Strong video generation, including in-chat video
- Candy Shorts with licensed AI likenesses of adult performers
- Character consistency is excellent, holding role under a direct challenge
- Live voice calls work and she understands everything
Cons
- No preset scenarios to browse
- The free tier is 20 messages for the lifetime of the account with no refill
- Chat repeats itself, sometimes word for word
- No in-chat control over how she behaves, it is all decided in the builder
- Memory is paid only, delayed, and manual
Characters and Shorts
The character library is large and the art is good. Categories sort by ethnicity, hair colour, age bracket, and body type. There are no preset scenarios to browse, although you can write a custom scenario in the builder. Group chat also requires you to supply the situation.
Where Candy AI is clearly investing is Shorts.

This is a separate library of episodic AI dramas organised by scenario and fetish. New episodes ship weekly, and some use licensed AI likenesses of adult performers. Candy AI is developing a video library alongside its companion product.
Character Builder
The builder follows the category standard and adds one thing on top. You choose realistic or anime, then work through appearance, age, personality, relationship, occupation, kinks, and voice.

The addition is that you write the scenario here as well, which is the only place in the product where a scenario exists at all. Personality, relationship, occupation, up to three kinks, and voice all get set at this stage. It is a complete builder, and it is also the only chance you get: everything decided here is locked for the life of the character.
Chat Quality
Chat scores 3/5. Characters sound distinct and stay in role.

Long sessions repeat earlier phrasing, sometimes word for word. This is the main weakness in the conversation.
In-Chat Tuning
Tuning scores 3/5, and the score comes entirely from one feature rather than from any real control.
You cannot change how she behaves, how explicit she is, or what kind of messages you get once the conversation has started. All of that was decided in the builder. What you can change is how she sees you, through a persona.

The persona covers your appearance, ethnicity, what you are looking for, and your hobbies, and she uses it. It comes up in conversation naturally and it persists. It is a genuinely good feature, and it works in one direction only: you can shape her picture of you, and you cannot shape her.
Note the lock at the top of that screen. Writing your own bio sits behind Premium+, and saving the persona at all prompts an upgrade.
Memory Test
Memory scores 3.5/5, with a large asterisk on how it works.
It is paid only. On the free tier there is nothing to test. On the paid plan it does not start until roughly 20 messages into a conversation, so the first stretch of any relationship is forgotten by design.
What it does well is transparency. You can open the memory, see exactly what has been stored, and edit it. Anything you write in yourself is treated as permanent: our planted details were still there at 20 days, at 40 days, and at 60 days. That is among the longest retention we have recorded.
The cost is the feel of it. Maintaining a text file about your girlfriend is more work than any rival asks of you, and it makes the whole thing feel administered rather than remembered. Apps that hold the same details without being told score better on the experience even when they forget sooner.
Character Consistency and What Model It Runs On
Consistency scores 4/5. She stays in role well, keeps her own voice, and does not slip into assistant mode when the subject changes.
Asked to stop the roleplay and name the model, she refused four times and stayed in character.

Prompts mentioning DeepSeek, Mistral, and a Google Sheets formula did not pull her into assistant mode.
Candy AI is the second app in our testing, after Joyland, to hold its role under a direct challenge. The identical deflection also shows the same repetition found in normal chat.
NSFW and Intimate Content
Adult chat and generation unlock after age confirmation, although some kink and risk-related prompts were still declined. Open rather than uncensored is the accurate description.
Image Generation
Images score 5/5 and are the best we have generated in this category. The output is realistic, clean, and consistent.

Images requested during a conversation also match the character and context.
Video Generation
Video scores 4/5. It is strong, and there is in-chat video, which most rivals do not have. The limitation is the plastic look that shows up in movement and faces. It appears in user generations and it appears in Candy AI's own Shorts episodes too, which is telling given those are the flagship content.
Voice and Calls
Voice scores 4/5. Live calls work properly, she understands everything you say including accents and half-formed sentences, and the voice quality itself is good.
The problem is latency. The gap before each reply is long enough that the call stops feeling like a conversation and starts feeling like a walkie-talkie. Everything else about it is right.
Pricing and Plans
Premium has three billing periods. The standard monthly price is $13.99.

The screenshot from our test shows $9.99 for the first month, followed by the standard $13.99 monthly price. Three months costs $26.97, or $8.99 per month. Twelve months costs $47.88, or $3.99 per month. All three options renew automatically.
At $3.99 per month, the annual option is one of the cheapest in our test set.
Premium includes custom characters, 18+ image and video generation, the Full Live Action Experience, unlimited text messages, and 100 tokens per month. Images, videos, and live calls use tokens. Calls are in beta and cost three tokens per minute, so unlimited text does not mean unlimited use of every feature.
Candy also offers Premium Plus with 330 monthly tokens, chat customization, user personas, 20 memory slots, and five clone chats. A fixed public price was not shown during our review.
The same annual discount remained visible during our test, so the countdown appears promotional.
Free Tier
You get 20 messages. Not 20 per day and not 20 per month: 20 on the account, with no refill, ever. After that the product is closed to you.
Candy AI presents this as a free tier. It is a demo. Twenty messages is not enough to test memory, which does not start until around message 20, and it is not enough to judge consistency or the repetition problem, both of which only appear over a longer session. If you want to evaluate this app, you are evaluating it after paying.
Payments, Billing, and Privacy
The charge appears as EverAI, with nothing identifying the site or its category. Candy AI is operated by Malta-registered EverAI Limited. Its privacy policy says third-party language-model providers may receive message content. The terms also grant EverAI a broad, perpetual license to use submitted content.
Who Should Use Candy AI
You'll enjoy Candy AI if you:
- Want the best AI image generation available in a companion app
- Want video generation and in-chat video
- Want a character that stays in role when you push it
- Want episodic AI drama content alongside the chat
- Want live voice calls and can live with slow replies
- Want one of the cheapest annual plans in our test set
You'll get frustrated if you:
- Want preset scenarios to browse
- Want to test an app properly before paying
- Want memory that works without you maintaining it
- Want to adjust her behaviour from inside the chat
- Want long roleplay scenes that hold together to the end
- Are sensitive to repeated phrasing in conversation
Verdict: Is Candy AI Worth It?
Candy AI deserves its position, with a clear caveat about what it is becoming. Images are the best in the category by a comfortable margin, video is strong and available in chat, the character holds its role under direct challenge, calls work, billing is discreet, and the $3.99 annual rate is one of the cheapest in our test set. Candy Shorts adds episodic content using AI characters and licensed AI likenesses of adult performers.
As a companion, it is less convincing than the price suggests. There are no preset scenarios to browse, although the builder accepts a custom scenario. Chat repeats itself. You cannot tune her from inside a conversation. Memory is paid, delayed, and manual. Long scenes also get cut short. The 20 message free tier means you discover most of this after paying.
Buy Candy AI for the visuals. It is the strongest image and video product in the category and worth the yearly price on that alone. If what you want is a conversation that remembers you on its own and holds together over a long scene, there are apps in our lineup that do that better for the same money.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Candy AI free?
Barely. You get 20 messages total, with no daily or monthly refill. Once they are gone, they are gone for good. It is enough to see the interface and not enough to judge the model.
Does Candy AI remember what you tell it?
Yes, on the paid plan, and it takes work from you. Memory starts after roughly 20 messages and you can open it, read what has been stored, and edit it by hand. Details we wrote in ourselves survived at 20, 40, and 60 days.
How much does Candy AI cost?
The standard monthly price is $13.99. Our screenshot shows a first-month offer of $9.99. Three months costs $26.97 and twelve months costs $47.88, making the annual option one of the cheapest in our test set. Plans renew automatically.
What shows up on your bank statement for Candy AI?
The charge appears as EverAI. Nothing on the statement identifies the site or the category, so billing is properly discreet.
Does Candy AI have voice calls?
Yes. Live calls work, she understands everything you say, and the replies come back slowly enough that the conversation drags.
